Chef Tim Recher, CEC One of the most accomplished Chefs in the DC/Baltimore corridor, Chef Tim Recher is recognized by his peers, company, and guests alike for his professionalism, craftsmanship, knowledge, and talent. Having cooked for sports stars to heads of state, from actors to Master Chefs, Chef Recher can now be found at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center Hotel in the Washington DC area. As Executive Chef, Tim oversees a culinary team serving 500 rooms, an extensive schedule of 1,000-plus-person events, meetings, room service, and meals served at the hotel’s signature and one of the area’s top rated restaurants, Finn & Porter, serving American style steaks, seafood and sushi bar. He also serves fine dining catering functions in the newly opened 10,000 square foot lakeside pavilion. |

Having spent his entire adult professional life in the kitchen, from casual dining pioneer TGI Friday’s to 4 Star hotels, Chef Recher has had his share of accolades. Most recently, he was selected as the 2006 Chef of the Year by the Nation’s Capital Chefs Association (NCCA) for advancing American cuisine, demonstrating outstanding culinary ability, mentorship, strong involvement with student development and community activity. |
He has also been named Rising Star Chef (2004), one of 2 finalists for Northeastern Chef of the Year (2005), one of 8 nominees for National Chef of the Year (2005), awarded the Chef Professionalism Award (2005), inducted into the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs (2003), listed as an 'Honorable Member in the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals' (2002, 2003), inducted into the 'International Who’s Who of Chefs' (2004-2005), and accepted in the 'USA Executive Chef Who’s Who of Hospitality & Foodservice Culinary Leadership' (2004). Along the way to perfecting his craft, Chef Recher has won numerous culinary events including gold medal performances in multiple ACF certified culinary competitions, earning over 25 medals in the past three years. He is a two time winner of the Chesapeake Chefs Challenge and in 2006, he was selected as the State Chef of Maryland by the Governor and sponsored by the Maryland Seafood Council to compete in the Great American Seafood Cook where he was one of eight chefs featured for a profile during the hour long Food Network. |

He has been featured in numerous publications including the Washington Post, the Washingtonian Magazine, the Washington Times, and the Baltimore Sun. Chef Recher has also made appearances on WBAL radio, Cox channel 10, FOX45 T.V., and was featured on the TV Food Network in a one hour Food Network Challenge where he placed 4th in the nation. |
Working in the Baltimore-Washington DC area has allowed Tim to cook for many distinguished guests including Senators, Congressmen, Governors, Mayors, Heads of State, and celebrities such as Aaron Neville, Mark Anthony, Danny Glover, the cast party for the HBO series 'The Wire', 2006 Miss USA Pageant Coronation, and Donald Trump. In fact, during one week this past spring he cooked for Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain along with the Prime Minister of Israeli in back to back plated dinners serving well over 12,000 meals. Most recently, Chef Recher was one of a select group of lead chefs responsible for cooking and serving the largest plated dinner in America serving over 50,000 plates to 18,000 diners in Washington DC. Always looking to build the profession of cooking, Chef Recher can often be found giving back to the community and the future through the many charity events he participates in annually. He serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching culinary arts to the next generation of chefs with Anne Arundel Community College, trains apprentices from the American Culinary Federation, and develops new cooks as they prepare for culinary competitions and their own climb through the professional kitchens Tim has spent his life time mastering. His next and greatest ambition should come to fruition over the next few years as Chef Tim Recher prepares to take the prestigious Certified Master Chef Exam |
